Reflection: The shepherds, humble and ordinary, are the first to hear the news of the Savior—a reminder that God’s kingdom is not of this world but lives within the hearts of those who receive him.
Jesus teaches us that “The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21). As we await his coming, we are invited to recognize his reign already within our own hearts. Like the shepherds, we may feel unworthy or too small for such a calling, but Jesus seeks to dwell in the humble spaces of our lives. When we allow his peace to rule in our hearts, we can become vessels of his light, reflecting his heavenly kingdom to the world.
