Reflection: Consider the awe of simple shepherds as they received the angelic proclamation of Christ’s birth. These humble figures remind us of another moment when Christ invited ordinary people into his divine mystery, commanding, “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19).

In Advent, we prepare not only for Christ’s birth but also for his lasting presence in the Eucharist. The shepherds’ response to the angels—seeking the newborn Savior—mirrors our call to seek him in the sacrament where he offers himself to us. Their awe encourages us to approach the altar with the same wonder and humility.
