I know the feeling. Ash Wednesday is looming, and you feel a combination of hope and worry. Hope that this year you can finally Do! Lent! Right! but then worry that it will turn out like previous years—you’ll start out strong and then fizzle, or fail to make any plan at all, and then just kind of schlepp your way through Lent feeling vaguely guilty for messing it up again.
Don’t do that this year. Instead, let’s do Lent together. I have a simple plan.
Each week of Lent, right here, I’ll be sharing stories from women in the Gospels with a short video reflection, prayer, and journaling questions that you can take into your daily prayer time. I’ll offer suggested addtional Scripture readings and reflection questions on the theme, but there will be no pressure to “do” more than the weekly sessions. You’ll be able to go at your own pace and share your thoughts and questions here in the comments, so we can grow together as a community.
Sound good? Let’s do this together. You’ll need to be paid subscriber to access this special content, so let’s get you signed up so you don’t miss a thing.
We don’t “do” Lent, and no one gets a grade on Easter Sunday. This doesn’t have to be your Best! Lent! Ever! but I pray it will be the one God is inviting you into.
I’m so grateful for your presence here, and I hope you can be part of this journey with us. Together, let’s find out what we can learn from women in the Gospel stories. Real women who walked the earth with Jesus, who heard him speak, who were touched and taught and healed by Him. What can we learn from their stories of Jesus that will help us see His presence in our own, this Lenten season and beyond?
I can’t wait to get started!
I’m having trouble finding my way around this new platform. Are these videos something we’ll sign up for? Or will they just appear somewhere? Sorry I feel like an old lady asking these questions! I just don’t see a space where all things Danielle Bean are together, if that makes sense. Would welcome any tips for using Substack! 😊
Looking forward to this
I am over 4 decades old and each year it’s the same story. I have never had a year where I was faithful to my plan for lent. When Good Friday comes along I usually feel regret and a feeling of failure and it being too late
